Yoga & Meditation

Pam Vlahakis demonstrates how to improve flexibility and strength while reducing stress and tension. Includes Ayurvedic healing meditation techniques. (Not for expectant mothers)

Instructor: Pam Vlahakis

Pam Vlahakis is a certified yoga, qigong and tai chi instructor. As a long-time practitioner of medical qigong, she saw the benefits of this ancient practice and sought certification with Dr. Aihan Kuhn in 2011. Pam is also a candidate as a tai chi instructor with the Tree of Life Tai Chi Center with Peter Wayne, Ph.D. She enjoys sharing with students these ancient mind/body practices that are also supported by evidence-based research showing the many health benefits.

Qigong for Seniors

The gentle, fluid movements of qigong train the mind to direct the body’s energy, or chi, to any part of the body, helping to improve balance and blood pressure, build strength, increase range of motion and flexibility, enhance endurance and reduce stress.

Instructor: Carolyn McDonald

Carolyn has been doing qigong since 2009. She's completed associate instructor and instructor certificates with Dr. Ming Wu and continues practicing qigong weekly with him. She has taught qigong regularly at the Council on Aging in Stow and for the Rainbow Life Long Learning Institute Boston. Learning and practicing qigong has been a healing journey for Carolyn, and sharing this practice with others is one of her greatest joys.

Dance Fitness

Based on Nia technique, this class blends different forms of dance, tai chi, taekwondo and yoga to provide a full-body workout that will leave you feeling energized. Get fit, lose weight, strengthen and condition, de-stress and have fun! For all levels.

Instructor: Susanne Liebich

Susanne Liebich has been a dance and movement instructor, a choreographer and program director for more than 20 years. She takes a balanced, holistic approach to exercise blending traditional, expressive and therapeutic movement to create overall health and well-being. She is a certified STOTT PILATES instructor, a certified black belt Nia instructor, a licensed Dance for PD instructor, and continues to explore interests in various forms of dance, music and movement.

Gentle Pilates

These Pilates exercises will engage your core, which helps support the spine, strengthen the muscles in your body, and stabilize the joints surrounded by those muscles.

Instructor: Lori Seymour

Lori's mission is to help her clients achieve their goals through effective, fun workouts. Lori has helped numerous clients change their bodies and lives in a positive way by teaching the importance of exercise and a healthy diet. Her certifications include: SCW Certified Pilates, AFAA personal trainer and group fitness instructor, Barre TRX, and Rip Trainer MADD Dog Spinning.

Qigong/Tai Chi Combination

This class displays a combination of qigong and tai chi exercises that include the therapeutic 36 qigong form that works the whole body-mind, basic stances, the 8 form (a primitive tai chi form), tai chi elements, tai chi walking and more. These movements promote health and healing through breath awareness, mindful concentration, stances and gentle rhythmic movement. This workout helps to improve circulation, hydrate tissues and joints, and strengthen tissues and bones. It is appropriate for all ages and abilities.

Strength, Balance & Flexibility for Seniors

Based on Healing Motion for Life, this class focuses on conditioning the core and balance by learning how to move the body in a healthy way to strengthen, avoid injury, and reinforce proper movement principles. By combining a variety of movement forms such as yoga, Pilates, dance stretch, martial arts and breath work, students achieve overall health and wellness and improved mobility.
