An understanding of the impact of dementia and how to support and communicate with those living with it can make a huge difference. The purpose of this presentation is to increase awareness of dementia and help build empathy and a better understanding of this affliction, how it affects our communities and an individual’s role in helping to enhance the quality of life for those living with it.

Maryellen King

Maryellen King is Director of Community Relations, Concord Park Senior Living. Maryellen is an accomplished community outreach professional and experienced trainer, most recently using her talents promote assisted living and memory support options at Concord Park and to instruct the community’s public education programs for seniors and their families. Her current courses cover food choices that support brain health, Mild Cognitive Impairment and dementia awareness. She believes in destigmatizing memory loss and related afflictions and hopes that her awareness trainings will help forward the Dementia Friendly Communities Initiative across the state.
