Parkinson's Movement: Healing Movement to Music for Parkinson's and Movement-Related Disorders

This class uses various dance techniques and styles to address balance, flexibility, movement range and rhythm in a safe and enjoyable environment. It is based on the acclaimed Dance for PD® program developed by the Mark Morris Dance Group and Brooklyn Parkinson Group. Research has found that dance techniques can be helpful to those with Parkinson’s and other mobility disorders including shaking, rigidity, slowness of movement, and difficulty with walking and gait. Caregivers are welcome to accompany student for free. Taught by Susanne Liebich, trained in Dance for PD; certified in therapeutic dance and movement.

Susanne Liebich

Susanne Liebich has been a dance and movement instructor, a choreographer and program director for over 20 years. She takes a balanced, holistic approach to exercise blending traditional, expressive and therapeutic movement to create overall health and well being. She is a Certified Stott Pilates® Instructor, a Certified Black Belt Nia® Instructor, a licensed Dance for PD® Instructor, and continues to explore interests in various forms of dance, music and movement. She has also taught classes to at-risk teenage girls who reside at the Metro Youth Services Facility in Dorchester, served as Development Chair for BalletRox, and volunteered extensively for Concord Public Schools. Most recently, her classes include instruction in both dance and injury prevention to disabled children, older adults and other special population groups with limited mobility.
